hey guys,
when putting a 202 black/blue head on a red block you have to drill out and block off water passage holes right? well when it comes to the head gasket are they all the same for 202's?or you would have to use black/blue head gasket. .? im using a black 12port head on a 186 block.when i told my mechanic about the water holes he reckons theyre all the same red through to black.but ive been told by many people they arent.and im pretty sure they are not. thinking it might have something to do with my overheating prob.just put in a triple core aluminium radiator.and its still running very hot.put a 14" thermo on aswell.still running 190-200degrees.i know it will run a little hot due to just being rebuilt and worked pretty hard but it still should not be running THAT hot Last edited by matts355; 26-10-2008 at 06:26 PM. |

head gasket on the wrong way its so easy to do iv done it (lol) mine ran hot as that, iv got a blue 3.3 block with a red head and im using a red copper gasket.. on the right way this time of course. i didnt drill or plug any holes and iv got a 3 core radiator with twin 10in thermos and it hardly reaches 100degs.. the gaskets are different for sure

went to a cylinder head shop today and the bloke said same thing.but very sure it is around the right way because we had the head off and on about 3 times before putting engine in car.and was all checked.
it is a black 202head on a 186 block.. had a look today when i put new thermostat in,and the flat bit where you can see a bit of the head gasket.toward front of engine, fuel pump side..just to the backand below of some bracket mount on the head.you can see a small hole bout 6-7mm round in the gasket...meant to be there or just confirming my suspicions about the gasket either wrong all together or wrong way around Last edited by matts355; 27-10-2008 at 04:58 PM. |
