Hey guys, For a while i've been thinking of mods i can do to my AU tickford. and now the money is flowing more freely than usual so i'd like to start modifying the engine. Does anyone have any good ideas for quick mods that give good power upgrades? It already has pacemaker extractors , 2'5 inch exhaust and a k&n hi flow filter.
And yes i am aware of people like jim mock motorsport that sell packages, but i'd like to be a little more creative. any suggestions would be helpfull, cheers. |

port the head, get a camshaft upgrade. Look at the inlet tract.

what he said, port the head, cos the au's have tiny inlet ports compared to previous models (for throttle response). from memory, the ef-el head was pretty big, but only the tickford one. then cam it, roller rockers, have the trans valve body modified (if its an auto), a computer tune, and thats about it unless you wanna go forced induction.

I've already priced cams. Not as expensive as i first thought and a fairly simple modification. waiting on the price for new pipe to make a custom air intake and i have seen about a tune.
also waiting for a return email from capa about a supercharger ![]() |

A mate of mine had a 4Ltr ED falcon. He built it with some flat top pistons, a TIGHE cam, pretty sure it had EL head that was ported, pacies, straight thru 2 1/2" custom exhaust (he made it himself at work) with no cat, custom dyno tuned, T5 box with 2400pound button clutch (kept shattering 3rd gear... box after box after box), minispooled 4.11:1 diff. It went like a shower of shit. Had spastic torque. Took off in 3rd gear frying the wheels with no trouble (until 3rd gear went bang... again). For the minimal work he done, it was a bloody tuff motor. Another mate bought it and ran a 12.9 with it (apparently).
Then he sold it off to get a bombed HG Bathurst special... Last i saw, the new owner had it on carsales for sale again.
