My mate recently put a pretty big CAI on his 1998 BMW 328ci
3" blue silicone hose straight down to the maf, and another couple of inches after the maf is a decent size K&N pod, sitting behind the passenger side head light (same sorta layout as the holden ecotecs) throttle response down low has improved pretty nicely, however, coming out of a corner, plant the foot, and the noise is just horrid.. massive.. well i dont know how to explain it, its like when you hold a piece of plastic out the window when moving at 100k, and it vibrates in the wind, and gives out a nice noise. well this noise is similar, but at slower speeds, and only when you plant the foot at low revs. definitely coming from the CAI, as it only came when the cai was added, and of course, its that loud, you can hear that is coming from the front left - from inside a sealed cabin any ideas? comments, to get rid of the noise? cheers. jase.

oh reeeaaaaaly.
thats really interesting to know when planning my cai. if its a pod filter thing, im guessing it would be the air entering in the middle of the filter creating a cyclone type effect creating the noise?

As soon as you change over to a CAI with a K&N filter you will feel and HEAR a big difference. Don't stress about it too much, obviously I can't be certain without hearing the noise myself but it seems normal. I changed all of the cars I've owned from a stock airbox to an over the radiator CIA and a K&N panel and they've all done the same thing with regards to induction noise. Never given me a problem though.

But don't let that deter you in any way to getting a CIA on your ute. Think of it this way, compare when you breathe normaly to when you take a deep breath. The deep breath is louder and sounds different - but works wonders. All you're doing with a CIA setup is letting your car breathe easier
