Default 202 wont rev

I have a 202 in my race car and wont rev any harder then 4000 it has a weird vibration in it at about these revs and just replaced the clutch. I havnt had the flywheel off and doesnt run a hymonic balancer. I was wondering if the valve train is stuffed. The engine has done 6 race seosons without a rebuilt or longer. It feels like it goes hard in first and second but has nothing in 3rd and 4th.

Help would be appreciated. cheers.

..no balancer?
did the shop who did the balancer job know that..?
and whats driving the alternator/water pump?

also..I would be checking the flywheel...the 202 had a reputation
for fretting the flywheel where it mounts to the rear of the crank
you think it on tight..but it aint

also
you replaced the clutch..did you get the flywheel/pressure plate
balanced together?

the 'wont run over 4000' can be anything...
fuelling (what carbs you got?)
ignition...advance is stuck (had that one happen to me)
oiling (low pressure) ...and the lifters kept collapsing
or bent valve train..pushrods in my case

given the engine has done 6 seasons.... a tear down would be a good thing
and a careful rebuild with new bits (yeah pistons and rings and stuff)
might be the go

hth

ok were just pulling her apart now becuase the oil pressure is a bit low. Didnt take flywheel off so could be that. Tried to time it but the timing light was scatted. Put the clutch in our self were Using a 4 barrel afb carter for carb and running good with that it just doesnt have any pull over 4000 and gets a vibration.
