Default lj torana diff change?

hey guys i got the chance to get my hands on a lsd diff out of a vn commo. now the diff has laready been in an lc drag car so it will slot stright into my lj torana

the problem i have is the stud pattern is different to my original ones now. what im wondering is can i re-drill the vn hubs back to the lj stud pattern. if i can will it affect the strength or damage it or anything like that.

cheers kris

i got a 9'' built for my hatch and they fitted both patterns (commodore and torana) on the same axles so it can be done they had to weld up a couple of the big holes to do it and they said it will hold piece of cake so thats what i did. As for brakes i got my disks drilled to the commodore pattern so they could run my brakes as well. I guess you could do the same to the drum rotors to make it easy for a brake conversion if its not running the original brakes on the rear if not you might have to get your brake bias right if the cylinder isn't the same dimensions just some things to think about. Also is the diff housing the torana width? or is it shorter cause the drag car had tubs ect,ect have fun.

Also you might need to modify your tail shaft and need a different handbrake cable.

I don't know too much about the saulsburys the small 10 bolt would probaly have the same drum brake set up or similar. As for the tailshaft it would be the same for a small 1 but i haven't seen a big saulsbury to measure up against. I guess you would need a shorter tailshaft but the brakes would be similar talk to a diff place they should be able to be of assistance or stick with the bangos at $100 a pop there not too bad and avalable in a heap of ratios.

Ive got a mate in the same situation. He has a hot 186 (280hp) and cant keep diffs in the thing. Theres nothing in a fine spline.
He's weighing up a borg warner conversion... but thats going to cost a fair bit.

But it would be worth the dollars in the long run. Kris, talk to the diff guy at driveline services in brendale. He did my centre and axles and he also did joe's diff in the corty. Great bloke and he knows his shit. He will have the best advice for ya.
