Default Monster air pump. Vortech 3.8L

Just wondering what to do with whats left? I got the vortech next is the exhaust but the tune is on my mind so many options, but it seems the best thing to do is a tune from Mick at Overboost in perth. Mick has the experience with turbo and blown but i still think there is some home workshop to do.
It goes really hard for a V6 but when i put me foot flat she seems to run lean so i run the risk of burning valves. should i go the expert advice or, should i correct the lean with bigger injectors and bigger fuel pump and keep it goin in the back shed? Please help the pocket is gettin lower.

No point doing anything unless you get the ECU tuned to make use of your mods. All you'll do is waste the money you've spent so far.

And if you've got a blower but haven't got a decent exhaust maybe you should rethink your priorities. You've got to get the gas out if you're going to push it in with a "monster air pump".

Moved to this section.

I agree with woodsy, unless you get the ECU tuned to accomodate the new mods they aren't gunna run at their best.

Your words are convincing woodsy and they come from lots of ears when i get back from Queensland for holiday my priorty will be the exhaust to let her breath and then the brain. Thankyou lots for time and advice. Will now stick to site and pass the word around. Spoke to a couple of mates and they said to see "Mick at, Overboost in malaga for an experienced tune" apparently Mick specialises in turbo and supercharged and have heard a loty of word so i will defineteley give it go...... Thanks heaps for the info....

It's a simple rule of thumb when trying to get more power out of any motor. The exhaust is generally the first thing that gets modified as stock exhausts are well known for being restrictive. Adding a blower (or any other form of power adder) is pointless if you're exhaust is stopping all the extra gasses that you are pumping in with the blower from getting out. Your engine is essentially a big air pump itself if that helps you visualise it.

Not only that but your ecu must be calibrated to suit the increased air and fuel going into the engine. No ifs or buts on that one. The standard tune in the ecu is good for one thing and that's a standard engine. Looking at any LS1 will show you that even with the stock intake and exhaust in place and no other modifications you can increase rear wheel power by 10-15% (possibly more depending on what model you have) and that is achieved wholly and solely by tuning the ecu to run using optimised timing and fuel settings.
