Default miss firing after i changed the plugs

i just changed my spark plugs on my series1 V6 the same as the ones that were in it before. and now it is coughing and spluttering like an emphysema patient. i did one plug one lead at a time. the only thing i can think of that may have caused it is, i had a momentary memory lapse and started teh car without the filter attached. and there is a tab missing off of teh aircon connector switch.

please help me i have to go upto my step mothers 50th this weekend and i don't really want to have to spend anymore money on it

i remember changing all plugs on my vr last time and it was farting and carrying on, i knew i never stuffed up witht the leads so i began to change an old plug in place of the newly installed plugs one at a time then it had to be the last one but found that the plug looked fine but just wasnt working properly , swapped for another new one and all was ok.

yeah i gave a quick check that all the plugs had a gap of 1.5 mm as teh service guide specifies and that there was no nick or any other ab normalities. but when i get the leads i'm gunna take em out again anyway and give them another look over. coz the would have been in there for about a week by then i think?

service guide said 1.5mm gap? i worked at ford for 6 months servicing cars etc etc, and i was told it should be 1mm to 1.2mm, 1.5mm at the VERY max.
does it vary that much from car to car or have i been fed wrong info?

this is just what i remember when i checked the plugs at TAFE when i was doing my course there. and it said that the plug gap for a VN/VP V6 was to be 1.5 mm. but i do agree it does seem and awfully large gap tho.

and that was the manufacturers service manual as well. workshop manuals may vary?

1.5mm is a huge gap, especially for a waste spark setup.

my VS V6 needed the plug gaps closed up a little. it wouldn't run properly under load with the 1.5mm.

I closed the plugs up to 1.1mm and all was good.

Maybe I just needed new coil packs, but it ran fine with the 1.1mm gaps for about 60,000 more kms and was still working fine
