Question V6 Conversion To Earlier Commodores

Hi guys, i got a thirsty 5 lt with a 286 cam edelbrock manifold and holly in a vh sle, and just wondering if any one out there has done a v6 conversion in the earlier models and whats the steps involved in doing this ? its costing over 100 bucks to run in it a week and thought a v6 would be a lot more economical, any help would be great !!!!

pretty straight forward, the vn x-member will need to be used, it is a bolt in fit. From there it is just a matter of getting the ecu wired in (any competent auto sparky can do this) late model vr/vs sell pretty cheap these days, the ecotec would be my pick

You also have to have the fuel tank changed to suit the fuel injection. Where about in vic are you.

Shame i have heard of a mob in Ballaarat who are doing the swap for around the 2K mark. Being down that i'd have a look around the Dandy area there is bound to be a few that would look at doing it.

You will have to fit the steering rack out of the early commodore. This requires welding new tabs onto the VN-VS X-Member. We have done 2 conversion in our shop and if you go for a VR-VS you will have to bypass the bloody key reader.
