gday guys,
buying a tc cortina and i want some bang for buck tips please (and plz dont tell me v8 or turbo). im tossing up between a n/a 250 xflow, big solid crow cam, port and polish head, hypertec flatties 10.5 to 1 comp, 600 vac sec on cain high rise, extractors and 3 inch exhaust, y/t roller rockers, 5spd supra and a 3.55 bw lsd. or a injected 250 xflow out of an xe/xf with similar specs except straight gas and obviously not high comp because i want a side mount whipple charger running about 12lb. i really want the whipple blower but i dont want to spend extra money then i need if i can get same amount of power out of the n/a setup. im guessing 220rwhp out of n/a, and bout 250 - 280rwhp whippled. correctish? any help would be greatly appreciated. cheers, Davo.

a mate of mine had a ED falcon 6 banger, with a small thigh cam, ported heads, flat top pistons, roller rockers, custom dyno tune, and all the usual stuff u put into a motor when u build it. it had a T5 5Spd with a 2800button clutch, and a 4.11 mini spool diff... it was good for 250rwhp before he took the heads out more, and it had a hell of alot of torque... but he sold that a while back, and now the new owner has it on carsales for 6k...
that motor cost him roughly 3k to build as he did it all himself (he worked for his uncle at the time who owns APC racing in brisbane). if you do it al yourself, u should be able to get a similar setup with the correct bits. strati (vn_v8_calais) knows the car and he can vouch for how hard it went. dam... i cant believe im actually giving advice about a ford lol

hahaha, well cheers anyway, good to know its possible to get really good streetable power out of a n/a 6, dunno bout the 4.11 gears as this is gonna be a daily driverall i want is to be able to give the odd 5 litre holden and ricers round town a taste of a ford 6, and if im lucky hopefully a gen3 off the line till they hit 2nd lol.
also i dont wanna make myself look like a fool with my 'zirtec' number plates, because of the obvious meaning, "she goes like a zirtec". another thing made me think, although im going to have trouble anywhere getting insurance having just lost my license for dd, its gonna make it near on impossible if its supercharged, so maybe just stick with n/a. thoughts? cheers, Davo.
