Default VT V6 clutch/gearbox problems

hello all, im not too sure if its my clutch or gearbox, but my money is that its the clutch. Sometimes when i start the car and go and put the clutch in and it makes a squeeling/high pitched grinding like noise, sounds like ERR ERR ERRRRRR, release the clutch and fine. the last time it happened i had the clutch and and i went to put it in first, and i have the gearstick half way into first gear and would make a quiet err errrrr noise. it doesnt happen all the time when the car is cold, which i find weird. but it is happening more regular lately.

sorry for my lack of detail but its hard to describe the noise lol.
thanks in advance grinding like

it sounds to me like your throwout bearing is gone.

bit hard to diagnose without knowing exactly where the err errrrr noise is coming from

the gearbox oil might need changing

well, u gota drop the box, bit of a pain in the ass just for the throw out bearing, is the clutch still any good? if it was me id be inclined to replace the clutch the throw out bearing and the spigot bearing, if ones gone the rest wont be far behind

Getrag clutch plate, pressure plate, throwout bearing and spiggot bush for a five litre cost me just over $500 for a reasonable setup, but an additional 500 or so to be fitted (I got underneath and just went 'ugh, this is going to be harder than a HJ').

Be aware that when you replace the clutch, you will most probably need to replace the flywheel at the same time so budget for it. The getrag box runs a dual mass flywheel which is non machinable. You can replace the five litre flywheels with a solid one, but I couldn't be sure with the V6.
