i did some measuring last week on my cars to figure out a trailers stud pattern
all measured between 2 closest bolts centre to centre, and then the distance furthest centre to cente, these are not exact!!!

Holden HZ 74mm and 117mm

Torana (lx) 62mm and 107mm

XC falcon 70mm and 112mm

hope this helps.

Its not so easy to measure with five studs as there are not two studs exactly opposite each other in the circle, but it is the diameter of the circle that you need to measure (the circle that passes through the center of all studs). Commodore is 120mm, HQ is 4.75", old Holden/Torana is 4.25". If you are talking about a V8 Salisbury (not a Chev 10 bolt) then my money would be on HQ pattern. HQ brakes are bigger and better and there are plenty to be found for cheap prices.

ur half right dave, stud pattern or PCD (pitch circle diameter) is measured directly opposite. for example, on a 4 or 6 stud hub, the PCD is measured from one stud to its direct opposite. but on a 5 stud hub its measured as if there were a circle going thru the centre of all five studs. the PCD would then be measured from one stud to the point in the imaginary circle directly opposite. an EH diff should be 5/108 if standard. 5 being amount of studs and 108 being the diameter.

If you measure (accurately) between the centres of two adjacent studs on a 5 stud hub, you can multiply by 1.7 to get PCD. (That's not exact, but close enough to work out what you're dealing with).

So, if you measure 70.5mm, the PCD is 120mm (Commodore).
It'll actually give you 119.85, but that's because the 70.5 isn't exact. You can't be expected to measure closer that half a mm though, so you'll also need to use common sense to match it to the closest known PCD. As Smitty2 said, you'll have to be very careful, as Commodore at 120mm is very close to HQ at 4.75" (120.65mm), and the difference in measuring between studs will come out to less than half a mm.
