Default 202 LJ Torana

I'm new here. I'm only 15, is that ok with you guys? you'd think that me being 15, i'm a ricer but that's not the story. i hate ricers.

Thing is, i'm thinking about my first car. i don't want an econobox at all. i don't have money to throw around all the time, but I had been looking at getting something like a Torana for a long time. Then I found this Torrie in SM Reader's Cars that looked great and had a 202 six, can you guys help me out?

I need to know what price i can get a 2-door LJ Torana for, and tips for getting/building a 202. whats the difference between red/blue/black 202s?

Cheers
Steven

where im from, the 2 door torries are generally quite expensive, lots of guys like to use them as drag cars cos their light.

202s are very simple to build and easy to source. one of my favourite engines. not overly powerful though, but good for a first car. cheap to work on too.

if u were getting a torrie, most chance are it would have a red in it. i prefer reds as i think they are bullet proof, but blues and blacks go harder. not much difference between them, just heads and ignition mainly.

any more questions just keep them coming bro, good luck

thanks for the advice mate. you'd think that the GTR toranas would be the rarest and most expensive, but it's even harder to find a basic S 2-door in SA, but at least they're cheap.

There's a few Torries running around where I live, an LH SLR5000 and i know where i can find a 202 - there's a house with a banged-up LH SLR 3.3 sitting out the front. what kind 202 exactly did the LH have?

If you,re doing the car as a project and have a trickle of funds coming in and plenty of time, I,d keep looking around for a decent torana , rolling shell or a driver and my personal choice to power an lc-lj torana would be an rb30 from a wrecked vl commy. they go hard, and you could use the engine , box , loom computer & get the diff cut & shut to suit. But if you,re on a tight budget just stick with the 202, they can be made to go pretty quick, it all depends on how much cash you want to spend. Like VN 355 said torrys are going up in price now, especially 2 doors, If you get your local trading post early and search for a car you might find the one you want, otherwise check just cars, ebay ,swap meets etc etc. Anyway good luck with whatever you decide to do, you,ll get heaps of useful info from the guys on here. Cheers.

No, it's not really going to be a project. As I said before, I'm 15, and that pretty much means not much money to spend. Being my first car, it's going to be driven everywhere, and i'll try to get upgrades as i can afford them. Reliability is a good thing for a daily driver. At some point I'll probably bite the bullet and hang a turbo off the side, but I know i might need a new cam for that, and certainly a manifold and extractors to suit.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. This place is a hell of a lot better than the forums I just came from. Full of drongos - like a rice burner with a 3000GT who street-raced, and an asshole with a Mercedes SL55 who couldn't stand American and Aussie muscle

Cheers
Steven

damnit, the guy took it out a couple of days ago. don't know where its gone, was in pretty good nick for an old car - minor rust and maybe a dent here and there. can't wait to fry the spiders living inside the car if i get hold of it.
