Bullies aside, the setup I'm aiming for worked very well but for the small matter of friction in the clutch plates. I've just got off the phone to Trans Man and there is a Govenor Reprogramming Kit on it's way from the US - apparently it's got a range of weights and springs - and will do the job.
More on-topic news once we fit the kit!
