Hello all!
New to these forum thingies.
Am the owner of a 1979 Hilux 4x4 which has had the 18r engine replaced with a holden 253, it runs the original L40 4speed manual 4x4 trans. My oldman had the conversion done in the early 90's for better towing capabilities on the farm. Being only a 4speed its comfortable cruising speed is around 80km/h!! The cluch is getting knacked so I thought this would be a good time to upgrade to a 5speed. The company that did the conversion in Adelaide has since gone kaput, and other companies I've contacted havn't heard of 4speeds behind holdens. What I am hoping is that somone maybe knows what 5speed 4x4 box would bolt up the same as a 4speed or of the company that may have offered these bell housings for V8 holdens and 4x4 4speeds.
