I tried and sadly failed to find an overdrive Toploader. The "Orion" Toploader are a wide ratio 4 speed with 3rd gear replaced by an overdrive gear, and the 3/4 linkages were reversed. They look Slightly different to the standard Toploader but would be a superb cruising box if you want the longer legs on a smaller budget. IF you can find one, it will be cheap because pretty much everyone fitting them expected the close ratio and were disappointed. Speco or hurst still sell a new shifter kit for the Orion, too. Apparently there was a bloke here in Adelaide who scrapped about 20 of them because he couldn't sell them. Always the way: I'd swap my shiftkitted T700 for one tomorrow, but if I didn't just get on with it, the car'd still be in pieces today. Stay with the manual - automatics are for the disabled.
