Great Pictures Grant!
I went out and had a look. Heaps of cool cars out there, pitty the track was shocking. There were chunks of rubber coming off the surface, most cars struggled to hook up. Talking to a few people 'in the know' reckon calder park staff never ever scrape the track, it is left up to a small group of racers to look after the start line.
I was also dissapointed to see a bit of a physical altercation between the crew of an orange LJ torana and the start line staff. The torana deep staged, so did his oponent. So therefore they are both in the starters hands. But the orange torana reversed out of the beams and he got a red light. Harsh, but they are the rules. I was disgusted to see the emotions boil over into a push and shove from the crew guys. But i suppose some people cannot communicate with words, they must resort to getting physical.
Apart from these few things, race meets like this are good for victorian drag racing. I am keen to race at the event on feb 23 next year. The main prize is a new ute! Bring that on!
